Dr. Mordecai Yalovsky
Dr. Morty Yalovsky, a member of the Board of Directors of CIUSSS West-Central Montreal since 2015 and Chair of its Audit Committee during that period, has been appointed President of the Board.
He succeeds Alan Maislin, who stepped down earlier this year, having led the Board since the CIUSSS came into existence in 2015.
Dr. Yalovsky holds a doctorate in mathematics from McGill University, has been a member of McGill’s Desautels Faculty of Management since 1974 and is a former senior administrator of the university.
Dr. Yalovsky says he became associated with the CIUSSS after volunteering to assist Miriam Home and Services with its finances several years before the CIUSSS was created. Then, in 2015, as Miriam Home prepared to become a member facility of the CIUSSS, he was encouraged to apply to join the network’s Board.
“Our ongoing challenge is to continue enhancing the experience of our patients, clients and residents through a combination of creativity and professionalism,” Dr. Yalovsky explains.
This means striving to realize the full potential of the CIUSSS’s user-centred philosophy of care, known as Care Everywhere: achieving the right outcomes by delivering the right care at the right time in the location that’s most appropriate, safest and most convenient for users.
In addition, Dr. Yalovsky says, he wants to build on the award-winning innovations and technological advances that were initiated during Mr. Maislin’s term, including virtual care, the Hospital@Home program, the C4 Command Centre and the use of artificial intelligence.
