Long-term care services

Long-term care fees

The accommodation fees are established by the Ministry of Health of Quebec (MSSS) and determined by the Régie d’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) for all CHSLDs and intermediate resources in Quebec. Please consult the  RAMQ website for more information on this topic. You can also use their  calculation simulation tool to estimate your contribution rate.

FAQ

What can we do if we cannot afford the accommodation fees?

  • The RAMQ determines the accommodation fees. If you do not have the means to pay the fees, you can apply for exoneration. The RAMQ will review your finances and will recalculate the fees according to your financial situation. There are conditions to be eligible for the exoneration. Please consult the RAMQ website for additional information.

What are the payment options?

  • Our payment methods are by pre-authorized payments or checks.

Are there any taxes to pay on the accommodation fees?

  • There is no tax imposed on the accommodation fees.

Are minors also charged for the same fees?

  • Accommodation fees are not charged for children under 18 years of age. However, once a child is placed in a long-term care facility, the Canada Child Benefit will stop being sent for your child.

What is a trust account?

  • All residents in our establishments are eligible to open a trust account in our CIUSSS.
  • A trust account allows residents to accumulate funds and use them for their personal expenses.
  • There are no service fees for a trust account.
  • Monthly interest can also be accumulated in a trust account.
