CIUSSS West-Central Montreal has been recognized with the Innovation and Impact award from Children's Healthcare Canada, which honours those who demonstrate exceptional leadership, collaboration, and commitment to improving healthcare outcomes for young patients and their families. It all started months ago when Emily Lecker and her team, who work in the rehabilitation program in specialized schools at Lethbridge-Layton-Mackay Rehabilitation Centre, began brainstorming ways to include parents more in children's therapy sessions.
With the collaboration of Danina Kapetanovic (CIUSSS Chief Innovation Officer) and OROT, the CIUSSS's connected health innovation hub, the idea was born to create a customized app that would allow for the easy exchange of photos, videos, and therapeutic strategies. Enter
Braver, which partnered to co-create the innovative solution adapted to everyone's specific needs, evaluated by Sara Ahmed, researcher with the
Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Rehabilitation of Greater Montreal (CRIR).
Thanks to all of the collaborators who made this possible, including McGill,
BRILLIANT Lab,
Habilitas Foundation and many others.
