Vaccination against measles

Measles is a highly contagious virus that can cause severe complications, such as brain swelling and death. It is particularly dangerous for children under one year old, pregnant individuals, and people with weakened immune systems.

There is no treatment, but vaccination is the best way to protect yourself against measles and to protect others from the disease.

Who can get the vaccine for free?

  • Children receive a vaccine at 12 months and 18 months, according to  Quebec's vaccination schedule.
  • Anyone who has never received the measles vaccine or has never had the disease should also get vaccinated.

Where can an appointment be made?

  • For children under 2 years old: At CLSCs (Local Community Service Centers).
  • For children 2 years and older and adults: At local service points (PSL).
