Adult Mental Health Access Mechanism (MASMA) Team

Mission of the Adult Mental Health Access Mechanism (MASMA) Team

The adult mental health access mechanism (MASMA) is a gateway to access services on the mental health continuum in the territory served by CIUSSS West-Central Montreal.

The purpose of the MASMA is to assess user requests and direct the users to services that correspond to their needs.

Services provided by the MASMA Team

  • Receive adult mental health service requests
  • Have requests assessed by a multidisciplinary team
  • Prioritize requests and direct individuals and their families toward the appropriate service—specific, specialized, community organizations—and ensure liaison/consultation with those teams
  • Initiate screening, assessment, care and treatment protocols

The MASMA applies the best practices of the Quebec Program for Mental Disorders (PQPTM). It supports users’ access to services by identifying the right service delivered at the right time by the right person, using an evidence-based approach combined with the clinical judgment of professionals. This service, shown to be effective, is offered according to the priority need identified collaboratively with the user.

For more information, visit the Quebec Program for Mental Disorders (PQPTM) page.
