What is the role of the ABC team?
The ABC team’s mission is to ensure that anyone in a mental health crisis receives rapid service designed to resolve the crisis, establish a safety net, and provide continuity with other services where needed.
What makes the work of the ABC team different from other mental health services?
The ABC team is an innovative model that’s part of an integrated platform offering alternatives to hospitalization. The aim of this approach is to improve the experience of people in crisis with services promoting their recovery and participation, as well as the involvement of their friends and family, while acting on the social determinants of health.
What services does the team provide?
- Specialized mental health interventions and alternatives to hospital services for individuals in crisis
- Access within 24–48 hours
- Short-term, intensive services (generally 6 weeks)
- Flexible intervention frequency, adjusted according to individuals’ needs (e.g., from once a week to once a day)
- Interventions focused on resolving the crisis, establishing a safety net, and continuity with other services
- A recovery-focused, interdisciplinary approach
- Help from a peer supporter
- Support and assistance in the person’s own surroundings
- ABC team: From 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., 7 days a week
